To provide assistance globally through developmental service projects; to raise and provide funds for educational and charitable organizations that qualify under section 501© 3 of the Internal Revenue Code; and to offer scholarships to high school students pursuing higher education endeavors.
Ladies of the Lake Educational and Charitable Foundation (LOLECF) is a non-profit, volunteer organization established in Clear Lake, Texas on June 6, 2001. The foundation maintains a tax exempt, non-profit organization status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U. S. Internal Revenue Code.
The original name of the foundation was Ladies of the Lake, taken from the interest group that established the Tau Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 1992.
The foundation is host to various fundraisers which enables its members to provide scholarships and charities. Since the foundation’s establishment, it has awarded more than $50,000 in academic scholarships to graduating high school students entering college. In addition, the LOLECF has donated to various community organizations totaling more than $80,000 since its beginning. Contributions have been made to organizations such as, The American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Center, Houston Food Bank, The Sisters Network, Dickinson Food Bank and Pretty Girls with Cancer. Being of service to all is what continues to be the purpose of the foundation.
The LOLECF is a charitable arm of the Tau Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
